The Sheward Partnership was commissioned by University Place Associates to serve as the Architect of Record and Sustainability, LEED & WELL Consultant in the construction of this new 240,000 SF core and shell commercial office building. The eight-story building is located on the northern edge of the University of Pennsylvania campus in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
We are proud to announce 3.0 University Place achieved WELL Platinum certification, bringing this flagship project to double LEED and WELL Platinum certified! This is the first WELL Platinum project in Philadelphia and the first LEED and WELL certified lab building in the United States.
Some of the innovation strategies that we incorporated to achieve WELL include: ultraviolet lights in air handling units, indoor air quality sensors providing real-time data, and improved stairwell access and visibility to encourage active lifestyles. Overlapping LEED and WELL required a deep dive into material health and transparency. In total, TSP reviewed over 500 building materials for improved environmental and health impacts! If you want to learn more, we invite you to join our Greenbuild tour. The tour is open to the public and you can book a tour separate from a conference pass.
Thanks to our many team members who contributed to the certification process!
