Lehigh Valley International Airport – Security Checkpoint Connector Improvements

The Sheward Partnership was selected to complete a renovation and expansion to Lehigh Valley International Airport in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The existing passenger complex configuration included a midfield terminal design connected to the main terminal through an underground passenger connector. The airport owner and operator, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA) required more capacity and size for the passenger security checkpoint and for the inbound passenger flow to the baggage claim. TSP’s programming and planning efforts produced a layout that expanded the subgrade circulation areas for inbound traffic flow only and called for a new at-grade outbound passenger connector building built with an expanded passenger screening checkpoint.
