Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport Concourse A 5-Gate Expansion

The Sheward Partnership was tasked with the design of a 5 Gate Expansion of Concourse A at BWI Airport. The cantilever form of the building is a response to pushback tractor clearances at the apron and a need to maximize the upper level on a constrained site. Concession opportunities and the holdroom capacity also reflect an increase in the aircraft size and passenger demand. The design offers passengers a high, open space, filled with natural daylight and views to the aircraft and airfield beyond.
